Your website is a magnet for judgment, and this judgment isn’t limited to the website itself - it carries over into the way users perceive the company as a whole.

A bad website can tarnish a company’s credibility significantly—but a quality website can help a company extend its sphere of influence and create leads.

For you, the difference between these two outcomes could be as simple as making adjustments that change the way users perceive your website the first time they interact with it.

Website first impressions matter. Make them count.

In today’s digital world, your website plays a critical role in the buying process, and it should be able to effectively communicate important information. If you weren’t in the room to talk to your biggest potential buyer, could your website do the job?

Your website can effectively communicate 24/7, 365 days a year, doesn’t need meal breaks, and can work without supervision or management. Not only can a website communicate for you, but it can also answer questions, provide important product information, and generate new leads to conversion.

A website is an extremely valuable business asset that must be maintained.

There’s nothing wrong with needing to update your website. All companies need to continuously evaluate whether their website is doing a good job serving the business needs.

Your website is an important part of your brand identity, and often times the first point of interaction for new customers, partners, and suppliers. It’s just a matter of realizing when you have an outdated website.

Here are 5 common signs of an outdated website:

1. Your homepage isn’t making a good impression on people.

Your digital identity is a valuable company asset that you should be maximizing the value of.

75% of consumers admit to making judgments on a company’s credibility based on the company’s website design.

When you think about it, it’s pretty amazing that the credibility of a company is so powerfully linked to the aesthetic quality of its website. But it’s 2024, and a website serves as a window into the way a company operates. As such, it needs to exude credibility in every sense of the word.

2. Your website doesn’t function well or look good on a mobile device

3. Your website is Not Secure

Your website's url is http://www.YourDomainName.com, a Secure website's url is https://www.YourDomainName.com. Notice the "S" on https?

This "S" tells the viewer the site they are visiting is Secure.

When your website is not secure, the viewer will unlikely enter any personal information on the site for fear that it may not be kept private. And the website could also have a virus that could end up on their computer. And last summer Google announced that websites that are not secure (not encrypted) will be suppressed from search results - Why? When a website is not secure it can be hacked and visitors are susceptible to malware and phishing attacks and worse yet, identity theft!

4. Your website takes too long to load.

Speed is a Google variable used in search page ranking on search results. (Google owns 85% of Search Engines.) So not only are you losing potential customers due to a slow loading website (very typical of Wordpress) but your website ranking on search pages is also taking a hit. 85% of consumers expect a web page to load in 2 seconds or less.

5. You don't have a 'call to action'

Website visitors spend less than 6 seconds on the home page, your business needs to have a call to action to help the visitor know what your website message is.

Website first impressions matter. Make them count.

First impressions don’t just paint a pretty picture; they generate real dollars and cents.

We find that time and time again, good design pays off. In a crowded, competitive landscape, it’s crucial to carve out a space where your brand and your offerings stand out, grab and hold the attention of your target users.

You’ll never know how many leads are lost on a bad first impression. And those leads never call to tell you why they didn’t choose your business…
